Four Tar Heels Taken in Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse College Draft

Jamie Ortega was selected second overall in the Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse College Draft.


Charlotte North was the first player taken in the Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse College Draft on Tuesday, but it was national champion North Carolina that stole the show on draft night.

Four Tar Heels were selected out of the 15 total picks. Attacker Jamie Ortega (No. 2), defender Emma Trenchard (No. 3), goalie Taylor Moreno (No. 5) and Ally Mastroianni (No. 8) will all compete in the second season of AU Lacrosse, set to take place at USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md., from July 21 to August 14.

Fifty-six players, including 12 players participating in the World Lacrosse Women's World Championship, will comprise the league this season.
