Warrior/USL High School Boys' Players of the Week (March 20)

Mikey Berkman, a senior, broke 200 career goals when he tallied six goals and five assists in a 20-7 win over Lake Minneola (Fla.).


The Warrior/US Lacrosse Players of the Week are named each Tuesday to recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school boys’  and girls’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage.

Mid-Atlantic

Jacob Kelly, Calvert Hall (Md.)

Kelly has been stellar for the defending MIAA A Conference champions. He had 22 points in the first three games of the year and scored seven in the Cardinals’ 11-4 win over Malvern Prep (Pa.) on March 17.

South

Mikey Berkman, West Orange (Fla.)

The senior passed 200 careers goals when he netted six goals with five assists in a 20-7 win against Lake Minneola (Fla.). Berkman (Syracuse) had three more goals and seven assists in a 19-5 win over Montverde (Fla.). Through five games, Berkman has 25 goals and 23 assists, bringing his career totals to 206 goals and 227 assists. He is the first Florida player to have 200 points and 200 assists in a career.

Midwest

Ross Wiseman, Cincinnati St. Xavier (Ohio)

Wiseman stopped 14 of 18 shots he faced against an impressive Columbus DeSales lineup. Wiseman signed his collegiate letter of intent to play at the Savannah College of Art and Design.

West

Blake Erlbeck, Torrey Pines (Calif.)

The sophomore attackman helped the Falcons rally for a 9-8 win over Texas powerhouse Highland Park last week, scoring one goal and assisting on five others. He then stepped up again to handle more of the scoring in a 10-6 victory over St. Ignatius Prep on Friday, tallying five goals and one assist as Torrey Pines remained perfect.
