Epoch/USL High School Girls' Players of the Week (March 21)

Lake Oswego (Ore.) standout Lauren Gilbert scored six goals and won seven draws in a 13-12 win over Eastside Catholic (Wash.) to earn Epoch/US Lacrosse Player of the Week honors for the West region.


The Epoch/US Lacrosse Players of the Week are named each Tuesday to recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school boys’  and girls’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast (begins next week), Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage. Mid-Atlantic

Caitlynn Mossman, Notre Dame Prep (Md.)

The junior attacker paced the Blazers to a season-opening win at then-No. 4 Bishop Ireton (Va.). Mossman – a Boston College commit – tallied four goals and four assists to help turn a halftime deficit into a 14-12 victory.

South

Caitlyn Wurzburger, American Heritage-Delray (Fla.)

The freshman attacker had six goals and 18 assists in wins over St. John Paul II (Fla.) and Lake Highland Prep (Fla.). She scored four goals and assisted on eight others in the 16-6 win over St. John Paul II. In a 15-10 win over LHP, Wurzburger had two goals and an eye-catching 10 assists.

Midwest

Kelly Csenar, Carmel (Ind.)

The junior midfielder has helped Carmel to a 4-0 start after firing a total of 23 goals into the net in the first weekend of the season. Csenar has also collected 11 ground balls to begin the season.

West

Lauren Gilbert, Lake Oswego (Ore.)

The senior has been a go-to player the past couple years for Lake Oswego (Ore.), but she came through once again in a big game. Gilbert led the Lakers with six goals, one assist and seven draw wins in a 13-12 win over Washington state champion Eastside Catholic on Saturday. The Northwestern signee also had five goals in the season opener win over Oregon Episcopal last week, picking up from where she left off last season when she tallied 46 goals, 21 assists and 87 draw controls.
