Northport (N.Y.) attacker Julia Huxtable scores one of her five goals in a 12-7 win over William Floyd (N.Y.) in Suffolk County Class A semifinals.

Traditional high school girls’ lacrosse powers Manhasset (N.Y.) and Northport (N.Y.) are in familiar territory: competing for county championships and earning national recognition.

The Nassau County and Suffolk County finalists, respectively, are two of the three previously unranked teams listed in this week’s Nike/USA Lacrosse High School Girls’ National Top 25. Agnes Irwin (Pa.), fresh off a thrilling overtime win over Penn Charter (Pa.) in the ISAA championship game, is the other.

At the top of the poll remains No. 1 Darien (Conn.), which picked up another quality win over New Canaan (Conn.) to capture its 19th FCIAC championship and first since 2019. Next up for the Blue Wave is the CIAC state tournament. Just four of the top 10 teams in the national rankings have games remaining.
