The final Nike/USA Lacrosse High School Boys’ National Top 25 celebrates the accomplishments of the top teams in the country.

Only one new team entered the final rankings, as St. John’s Prep (Mass.) rallied by Boston College High (Mass.) to win its third straight state title, 16-14.

Lawrenceville (N.J.), which committed this year to not using post-graduate players, won its final 18 games of the season to seal the No. 1 spot, just ahead of McDonogh (Md.). The Big Red feature a deep lineup of scorers, a highly reliable faceoff group, a balanced midfield and a strong defense in front of an outstanding goalie. They twice beat Brunswick (Conn.) and topped eventual national prep champion Hill Academy (Ont.) as part of a challenging schedule.

McDonogh, too, features some of the most elite attackmen in the country, was terrific on faceoffs and through the midfield and had a lockdown defense. The Eagles became just the third team to win the toughest conference in the country, the MIAA “A” Division, in back-to-back years.

Behind those two are some of the nation’s perennial powers. St. Anthony’s (N.Y.), Georgetown Prep (Md.), Brunswick (Conn.) and Culver Academy (Ind.) proved their mettle against difficult schedules throughout the spring.
