1. The lacrosse community hit New York City.

The inaugural USA Lacrosse Legacy Gala took place in New York City on Thursday night — helping to raise funds for the organization to celebrate the sport while honoring the legacies U.S. team greats Kyle Harrison, Paul Rabil and Crista Samaras.

Former ESPN anchor Lisa Kerney and her husband, Patrick, a former UVa lacrosse player who went on to star in the NFL, emceed the event which featured a who’s who list of lacrosse royalty, including the entire 2022 U.S. women’s national team which begins world championship play in less than three weeks.

2. What's ahead for the U.S. women's team after its final exhibition before the world championship?

Beth Ann Mayer with five takeaways for the U.S. women’s team following Wednesday’s exhibition game victory over Athletes Unlimited at Stony Brook.

3. Work carries on to the field for Alice Mercer.

A new job as a school counselor and social and emotion learning coordinator is paying dividends for U.S. team defender Alice Mercer on the lacrosse field as well.

4. Are the Terps the best of all-time?

Advanced metrics don’t go back far enough yet to compare the 2022 Maryland men’s team to the best of all-time, but this Terp team was in a class by itself among the most recent champions.

5. How did North Carolina win?

Depth and finishing skills were the key traits in North Carolina’s women’s team bringing home the championship trophy according to Zack Capozzi of Lacrosse Reference.
