Dialed In: Your Lacrosse Fix for Friday, July 9

Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. USA Lacrosse Magazine announced our National High School Players of the Year.

Christina Gagnon of St. Paul’s (Md.) and Andrew McAdorey of St. Anthony’s (Ny.) earned the distinction.

Both Gagnon and McAdorey were joined by four other athletes across the country earning regional player of the year honors.

2. The Premier Lacrosse League revealed its 2021 All-Stars who will take the field next weekend in San Jose. Fan voting determined the starters. Archers attackman and PLL points leader Grant Ament and Chaos goalie Blaze Riorden will serve as captains.

3. The National Lacrosse League announced a historic partnership with TSN to bring games to Canadians across broadcast and live streaming platforms for the first time since 2016. The agreement marks the next in a series of major steps the league has taken in recent months as it moves towards returning to play on December 3, 2021.

4. UConn announced that star midfielder Sydney Watson will return to Storrs for a fifth-year.

Watson registered 69 points in 2021 on 56 goals and 33 assists and was the first Husky in program history to earn a spot on the IWLCA 2021 Division I All-American First Team. Watson was featured in Give & Go in the May/June edition of USA Lacrosse Magazine.

UConn also announced Stephanie Palmucci and Katherine Parker will return for a fifth year.

5. Denison announced that Eric Koch will become the eighth coach of the men’s lacrosse program after seven seasons at his alma mater Washington & Lee, where he began as an assistant coach in 2014.

Koch replaces Mike Caravana, who stepped down in May after a 28-year tenure leading the Big Red.
