Kendall Rogers, a prominent national baseball writer, tweeted Monday that Queens (N.C.) is expected to announce a move from Division II to Division I and join the ASUN Conference.

The Royals are nationally ranked in both men’s and women’s lacrosse. The women advanced to the NCAA Division II championship game last year. They are currently undefeated and ranked No. 1 in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Division II Women’s Top 20.

Queens started exploring the move in February. It would become the third lacrosse-playing Division II school to announce its transition to Division I this year, joining Lindenwood (men’s and women’s lacrosse) and Stonehill (women’s lacrosse).

Chris Jastrzembski of CollegeLacrosse.net assessed the rapidly changing Division I men’s lacrosse landscape in light of the latest realignment.
