Charlie Campbell made 12 saves and helped shut out Rutgers in the final 27 minutes.

Charlie Campbell transferred back home to Stony Brook for a reason. It turns out Stony Brook might have needed the goalie just as much as the goalie needed Stony Brook.

Campbell, a Virginia transfer, made 12 saves in the Seawolves’ 11-7 win over Rutgers in the second round of the NCAA tournament and helped the Stony Brook defense shut out the Scarlet Knights for the final 27 minutes. Stony Brook ended the game on a 4-0 run.

For the clutch performance, Campbell is the USA Lacrosse Magazine Division I Women’s Player of the Week.

After the game, Campbell also provided one of the most wholesome moments of the tournament thus far.
