VIRGINIA BEACH — The WCLA crowned two champions on Friday in Virginia Beach, with Boston College Club capping a second undefeated season with its second Division I crown and New Hampshire Club winning its first Division II title.

Top-seeded BC finishes 17-0 after scoring the last six goals of the game for an 11-5 win over No. 2 seed Georgia. Four goals by senior midfielder Julia Szynal and three by sophomore Meghan Chase, all in the fourth quarter, led the way for the Eagles, who also beat Georgia in last year’s championship final.

“We worked all year for this, and to not lose one game in two years is amazing,” said BC goalie Finley Collins, who finished with five saves.

In the Division II final, freshman Julia Pitts was the hero for New Hampshire Club, tallying the winning goal with 10 seconds remaining to lift the Wildcats to the dramatic 9-8 win over No. 1 seed Utah Valley. The championship-clinching score was Pitts’ only goal of the game.

“We brought the energy today and carried it through the whole game,” said freshman Mackenzie Cretsinger, who scored twice and was named the tournament’s most outstanding midfielder. “This is so special because we all wanted it so badly.”

New Hampshire finishes with a 14-2-1 record.
