This season, USA Lacrosse will celebrate the accomplishments of players across Divisions I, II and III each Tuesday with Player of the Week recognition. Players of the Week are selected by USA Lacrosse Magazine staff and contributors based on a variety of factors, including individual performance and impact on team success.

DIVISION I

MADISON AHERN, NOTRE DAME

Notre Dame took down North Carolina, the defending national champion, 16-12 on the strength of five goals from Ahern. Combined between wins over UNC and Brown, Ahern had 10 goals (on 14 shots) and one assist, plus two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Even though neither contest was a down-to-the-wire affair, Ahern technically scored the game-winning goal in both contests. Not a bad week for the senior from Cohasset, Mass.

DIVISION II

LEAH KNOWLES, WINGATE

Knowles helped No. 15 Wingate extend its winning streak to seven games and improve to 11-2 overall with a pair of lopsided South Atlantic Conference wins last week. Knowles had nine caused turnovers in the two victories, adding 17 draw controls and four ground balls to go along with four goals and seven assists. She also surpassed 200 career points.

DIVISION III

JORDAN BASSO, GETTYSBURG

The Bullets might not have secured a jump in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Top 20 without the contributions of Basso. The junior attacker from Rye, N.Y., had five goals and three assists in a 17-9 win over TCNJ that shook up the rankings, then she had two goals and three assists in a 21-8 win over Washington (Md.). She added four ground balls and two caused turnovers combined last week for good measure.
