Towson's Alex Woodall Named Epoch/US Lacrosse Player of the Week

Towson faceoff specalist Alex Woodall played a big role in the Tigers' 13-8 upset victory over Johns Hopkins on Saturday and is this week's Epoch/US Lacrosse National Player of the Week. Woodall won 16-of-25 faceoffs in the victory and added two goals and an assist.

All three of Woodall's points came right off the faceoff and were key for the Tigers. Early in the second quarter, we won a faceoff and then fed Joe Seider for one of his four goals to tie the game 3-3. After Hopkins had retaken a 4-3 lead, Woodall scored just six seconds later, tying the game 4-4 and igniting a four-goal lead that kept the Tigers in front for the rest of the game.

Woodall's final goal came early in the fourth quarter, just five seconds after Hopkins had scored to close the margin to just three goals.

Woodall, a sophomore transfer from High Point, has won 68 percent of his faceoffs this season for the Tigers (4-1). Towson hosts unbeaten Ohio State on Wednesday (time to be determined pending weather conditions).
