Facing endless fire from then-No. 15 Ohio State, redshirt freshman goalie Shane Brennan made a career-best 16 saves to lift unranked Towson to a 7-6 overtime upset victory, earning Warrior/US Lacrosse Player of the Week honors.

The Buckeyes outshot Towson 40-19, with 22 of those 40 shots being on goal.

Seven of Brennan’s saves were recorded in the final 35 minutes, including a critical stop with 2:17 remaining in regulation, which led to the Tigers’ game-tying tally by Grant Maloof at the 1:14 mark. Jon Mazza scored the game-winner in extra time with just seven seconds left.

Brennan finished with a 72.7 save percentage against Ohio State.

After sharing time in goal with senior Josh Miller during Towson’s first two games, with Miller then playing the entirety of its 12-10 loss to Georgetown on Feb. 24, Brennan played all 60 minutes in its 12-8 loss to Loyola on Feb. 28. Since then, with Brennan holding the reins, Towson has defeated UMBC 8-6 and Ohio State 7-6.
