Collin Krieg was at the heart of North Carolina’s first win over Virginia since 2017.

The freshman goalkeeper stood on his head, making a career-best 20 saves in a 16-13 win on Thursday in the key ACC matchup. He is the US Lacrosse Division I Men’s Player of the Week for his performance.

Matt Moore had two shots in the final minute, but one went wide and the other was stopped by Krieg, sealing the victory.

Krieg entered 2021 not knowing whether he’d see the field, but he won the position battle early in the season and hasn’t looked back, starting all seven games of UNC’s undefeated start.
